Work Permits & Visas

It is a three step process to obtain a Work Permit and Entry Permit for an expatriate to work legally in Papua New Guinea.

First, application must be made to the The Department of Labour and Industrial Relations (Foreign Employment Division) for the issuance of General Work Permit. The processing time for the General Work Permit is approximately 2-4 weeks. We suggest application is made for the maximum permissible General Work Permit which is three years.

Second, after issuance of the General Work Permit application is made to the PNG Immigration & Citizenship Service Authority in Port Moresby for the issuance of an Entry Permit. The processing time for the Entry Permit in Port Moresby is approximately 1-2 weeks.

Third, once the Entry permit has been approved in Port Moresby the PNG Immigration & Citizenship Service Authority send confirmation to the PNG Overseas Mission to issue the Entry Permit. Processing times at the Overseas Missions vary as do their local additional paperwork requirements.

JVK Mobility’s expatriate staff are able to guide clients through the paperwork requirements, assist with the drafting of the application forms and offer the appropriate advice to ensure a successful and prompt issuance of both Working Visa and Entry Permit. Throughout the entire process our staff will provide regular updates to our client.

Please note that according to Department of Labour and Industrial Relations and  PNG Immigration & Citizenship Service Authority applicants must be outside of Papua New Guinea.

Once all processes have been completed JVK Mobility can also arrange to lodge the clients visa application on their behalf at the Papua New Guinea Consulate in Brisbane, Australia.

We are happy to offer an initial, free consultation, to understand better your requirements and to provide you with a quotation for our services. If you would like to arrange please contact us through the form at the bottom of this page.
